Summer Art Show Celebrates the Spirit of Route 66
Albuquerque, NM- 26 May 2016 – The Lomo Colorado Main Library in Rio Rancho is proud to host a solo exhibition by award-winning artist Amy M. Ditto; “The Spirit of Route 66”. Amy is known and loved for her modish originality. Her unique imaging of New Mexico’s natural, social, and historical environment extracts fresh meaning from her subjects, making her one of our most important contemporary photographers. The library is honored to present this breath-of- fresh-air exhibit sponsored by the Friends of the Library of Rio Rancho in conjunction with its Route 66 Summer Reading Program.
The exhibition features images Amy has compiled which celebrate New Mexican culture and environments surrounding the historic “Mother Road” as it has wandered through the landscape both past and present. The imagery presents her singular artistic view of Route 66, using punchy colors and composites to capture a uniquely New Mexican experience. Quirky, campy, breathtaking and fun, her work masterfully illustrates New Mexico as we know it.
An opening in Amy’s honor will be held on Thursday, June 16th from 6-7pm in the Loma Colorado Main Library Auditorium at 755 Loma Colorado Blvd NE in Rio Rancho and features Americana folk music by Peter Chase & Friends. The exhibition runs from June 13th- July 29th. Library hours are 10am- 8pm Monday through Thursday and 10am- 5pm Fridays & Saturdays.
