“Dia de los Moo-uertos” wins first place in “Color it Red” 2015!
“Dia de los Moo-uertos”, new in 2014 to the Flowers & Skulls series won first place in this year’s “Color it Red” competition from Red Dog News. In addition, Amy had two other images chosen for the showcase gallery: “Local Geometry” and “Temptation”.
For the third year in a row, Amy will be participating in the New Mexico Arts & Crafts Fair. This juried event exclusively features New Mexican artists and craftspeople and ranks among the top shows in the nation. The show is in it’s 53rd year and is definitely not to be missed. Come by and see Amy in the Manuel Lujan Building at EXPO New Mexico (New Mexico State Fairgrounds) in booth #58 June 26th, 27th, & 28th! (Friday, 10am – 9pm; Saturday, 10am – 5pm; Sunday, 10am – 4pm)
Studio 14 in Madrid, NM recently celebrated its first year in business! Amy has been with the gallery since it opened and is still thrilled to be a part of this fabulous, fun, contemporary art gallery. If you are not familiar with the quirky, artsy town of Madrid, New Mexico (pronounced mad-drid) on the Turquoise Trailyou can read a bit about it in these great articles in The Denver Food & Wine Scene & The Oregonian. (Watch the video at the bottom of The Oregonian article carefully at ~35 seconds in, they pan past Amy’s wall!)
Amy got her Ph.D. in Biology in ’06 but also had training in Fine Art photography and a strong desire to pursue her creative side in a more tangible fashion. When her husband Stefan mentioned starting up a business in photography, an old love was rekindled, and she supported him with vigor and enthusiasm. Amy is active in supporting and promoting the arts, and is currently the Vice President of CSA/New Mexico Artists’ Market.
