Fine Art News

from the studio of Amy M. Ditto & Aperture Photography

Happy Holidays from Aperture Photography and the Studio of Amy M. Ditto! We hope that this mail finds you in great spirits this holiday season!  Lots of exciting things are happening this month.  Read on to learn about recent shows and awards, holiday charity drives, Fine Art specials, and more!

A brief note: This is our first monthly newsletter.  We expect it to go out a maximum of once per month, save for the occasional update, correction, or special offer.  You were selected as a recipient because either Stefan or Amy met you personally via our business (Aperture Photography) or the gallery Amy is represented by (The Albuquerque Photographer’s Gallery).  We hope you’ll stay with us, but if for any reason you wish to unsubscribe, a link can be found below.  And, for friends and fans, do us a solid, and suggest folks you know subscribe, follow us on Facebook, etcetera.  We would be most appreciative!  Pass it on!

PS- Mention the newsletter and get 10% off of any of Amy’s Fine Art Prints or Aperture’s Photographic services!

“Straw Horse” Wins Honorable Mention

“Straw Horse” recently was awarded an honorable mention in the 2012 Fall American Photography Competition at the Hubbard Museum in Ruidoso, NM.  You can see it and 5 other images of mine on display there until 17 March 2013!  Many other well-known regional photographers have work in the show, and it should be well worth a drive to lovely Ruidoso to see!

Artist Meet & Greet at the High Noon Restaurant and Saloon

The Albuquerque Photographer’s Gallery and the High Noon invite you to join us Friday, December 14th from 5-8 for art, conversation, drink specials, and upscale snacks.  APG will be extending a 10% discount on member mats and frames both at the High Noon and at our gallery on Romero Street.  Come out and join us for a lovely December evening and finish up that holiday shopping to boot!  Stefan and myself will both be there, and if the last meet-and-greet was any indication, you don’t want to miss it!

ANMPAS 2012

The 2012 Annual New Mexico Photographic Art Show is currently underway and the show is downright spectacular!  No awards for me this year, but “Solace” did make the front room, which is an honor in and of itself.  Those interested in seeing the show should head down to the Fine Arts Building at the New Mexico State Fairgrounds in Albuquerque through December 28th, 2012.

This year, I’ve donated an 11×14 mat of my image “Solace” (see above right for a poster version) to the Koats for Kids raffle that Delina Ellise is organizing. Delina has put together a great batch of prizes and all you have to do to get your hands on one is either donate a new or gently used kid-sized coat at Davido’s Pizza in Rio Rancho or contact Delina or the folks at Davido’s to purchase tickets!

Prize list:  Two $25 gift cards to Davido’s Pizza, Original art by Amy M. Ditto & 57 Angles, 30 minute professional photography sitting with Deydream Photography, Reiki Session with Imagine If, a gift certificate from Gitanas Salon, CDs from Crimson Fool, and a t-shirt from local designer Shadows of the Attic!

Tickets are only $2 and available until the end of December!

About Amy:

Amy got her Ph.D. in Biology in ’06 but also had training in Fine Art photography and a strong desire to pursue her creative side in a more tangible fashion.  When her husband Stefan mentioned starting up a business in photography, an old love was rekindled, and she supported him with vigor and enthusiasm.

You can find her work on display (and for sale) at the Albuquerque Photographer’s Gallery, and online at amyditto.com.  Call her at 505.286.1127, or contact her online via her artist website with inquiries regarding purchase!

Google Business Photos

As many of you are aware, Stefan and I live and breathe photography.  While I may make enough to buy the dog food with my Fine Art, it’s really our commercial and portrait work that pays the bills.  This year, Stef became your Google Certified Business Photographer, taking Google Street View straight into businesses.  He was recently interviewed on KRQE 13.  Click this link to see the interview!

And, please contact us for more information at 286.1127!  A walkthrough for your business is very affordable, and has tremendous bang for your advertising buck!

2012 Charity Posters Available

For a limited time, I am making signed 16×20 posters of my most popular images of 2012 available for only $50.  These are not your flimsy old-school posters, but rather printed on heavyweight photographic paper.  They look great framed and are a fantastic way to get a copy of one of these images at a low price!  I make virtually nothing on these– 20% of proceeds go to charitable causes (this year’s charity is Peace Pal), and the rest pays for time and materials.  It’s my way of “paying it forward”.  Make the world a better place, and get yourself or a loved one a gift that will last a lifetime this holiday!  (See the posters below!)

Orders placed before December 19th will be available for pickup (for those local to Albuquerque) in time for Christmas!  The last date to order for mail delivery is 15 December.  Call 505.286.1127

Help Portrait 2012
For the third year in a row, Stefan and I donated a day of our time to Help Portrait.  This is a global effort by photographers to provide families in need with family photographs.  (Something that just isn’t in the budget when making the rent is a struggle.)  It is hands down the neatest thing we do all year for others.  These images mean so very much to the families we provide them to– we all want those memories to hold onto for ourselves and our children!  Follow their link to make a donation!
About Stefan:

Stef’s background is in Computer Science and Studio Art.  In 2010, he decided to make a career change, and founded Aperture Photography with his wife, Amy. Stefan’s talents are many, ranging from portraiture to gorgeous commercial and food photography. He was Director of Photography for the first ever Santa Fe Fashion week, and is a Google Certified Photographer providing walk-throughs for New Mexico businesses.

Visit Aperture Photography for examples of his work and to contact him for all of your photographic needs. Or call: 505.286.1127!
